Waterproofing and Wall Coatings
Here in Florida the exterior of our homes, properties, businesses, and structures are always under a constant battle from the elements- Elements like rain storms, salts that are always in the air and the constant sand blasting the wind causes. Are your wall coatings failing, are they at the end of their life span, or are you looking to spruce up your building or property? We can help you in any of these areas. Coastal Waterproofing has the ability and knowledge to apply many types of vertical exterior and interior coatings to protect and beautify your structure. Everything from protective waterproof coatings such as elastomerics and silicones to acrylics and stains to make your building aesthetically pleasing.
Caulk/Sealants
We have removed and replaced millions of feet of caulking/sealants as a team including urethanes, silicones, acrylics, and many others. The main causes of caulking and sealant failures are improper application practices, the life span of a particular sealant is up, or the wrong caulking was installed to begin with. We have seen each and every one of these cases. At Coastal Waterproofing, we have experience with many different sealants and caulking; waterproof urethane sealants, silicone waterproofing sealants, 2 part sealants, traffic grade sealants, and many more. We have the experience to properly bond break sealants where needed on expansion joints, control joints, and mechanical joints. We also have experience with bond breaking tapes, 1-2-3 tapes to go over existing sealants, and many other types of waterproofing sealants.
Stucco repair
Stucco is a cement like material. It will crack, even if the cracks are hairline and microscopic. During the construction boom of the early 2000’s many buildings were composed of stucco and never waterproofed correctly. Often times developers and contractors only applied a thin layer of paint or just color packed the stucco finish. This has caused many buildings to need extensive repair worked due to water intrusion. We at Coastal Waterproofing look for these areas so that they can be repaired before a waterproofing system is applied. We use materials that not only protect your stucco from outside water intrusion but also allow water to escape properly once it has penetrated the stucco if and when it does get in.
Deck Coatings
Unfortunately during the construction boom in the early to mid 2000’s, the documented building codes at the time did not address the longevity of building. Many developers and commercial new construction contractors to this day are not worried nor educated about the long-term waterproofing of a building. Deck coatings are vital. Regardless if it is a wood deck, concrete poured deck, or cast in place deck, without the proper waterproof deck system water will penetrate and cause damage. Wood deck can and will rot causing instability. Concrete decks will absorb water causing the rebar to rust and expand. Once rebar expands it causes the concrete to crack and then you have concrete spall. We have experience with urethane deck coatings, silicone deck coatings, two part epoxies and many more.
Exterior and Interior Repaints
Are you looking to spruce up the color of your personal home, beach rental property or your business. Looking to change the color palette of your structures exterior or interior? The team at Coastal has repainted many homes and businesses for our clients. We take pride in helping with the transformation of our clients’ property.
Water repellants / Hydrophobics coatings
Superhydrophobic coatings are a nanoscopic surface layer that repels water. Do you have a brick house or building? Are your grout joints starting to crack? Do you have efflorescence leaching (migration of salts to the surface causing a white coating like a stalactite) from your bricks? We have the solution for this. By going in and repairing (tuck and point) the bad grout joints between the bricks, we then clean the brick and efflorescence as best as possible. Last we apply a clear superhydrophobic coating to the exterior that repels the water. Not only does it repel water but if any water does get behind the coating it is very permeable and able to pass out in vapors instead of sitting behind the brick and causing damage.
